I always try to get inspiration from my new char names when I'm looking at them at the creation screen. I'll just start rolling sounds off my tongue and try out different combos of first and last names. Sometimes it comes quite quickly, sometimes I sit there for like 30 minutes trying to find the best name, looking up websites that give the meaning of names to try and find something and stuff like that. Since I expect to keep my characters for the long haul, I don't want them to have a name I'll regret later

For PvP I made up the name Mo Mo Patty Blinks (to be pronounced in an Irish accent), and most people refer to me as Mo Mo. So usually whenever I make a new character all the people that know me either just check their friends list or check the guild list and pretty much after that they remember that new name = Mo Mo.

So far this is what I've got:
Monk: Sister Of Divinity (there is a Brother Of Divinity out there somewhere that I met once but there is no relation

)
Ranger: Steve Basnof (Just a name

)
Warrior: Crimson Resolve (basically means her eyes are always set on shedding blood O.o)
Ele: Crimson Eliad (He's got red hair and Eliad just came to my head)
Nec: Kiltiana Varoso (sounds like a somewhat cruel name)
Mesmer: Kaelon Mendelev (Sadly the fool got deleted after I got bored from getting him to lvl 20 in pre.)
Ritualist: The Spiritbinder (I thought this name would be taken but I was lucky enough to reserve it on a free char slot

)
Factions Mes: (name to be decided at creation)
Assassin (once I can buy one extra slot): Attack of the Snack (derived from "snack attack". Because the assassin looks goofy so it's hard to give em a serious name.)

in other games i had conections like always darksoon and darkswife

but this game i have sir shiny things , dark demon burn, Iama Mann, and retired jedi

my wife on the other hand is liek anothe rposter in the thread she spends more time on the nameing part than the actual design

I've been notorious for confusing people that don't know my characters well.

On forums - I'm d4nowar... or lawlsauce.
On vent/ts - I'm lawl.
Monk - Power Pete.
Warrior - Lawl Im Strong Noob.
Necro - Mrs Mxyzptlk
PVP - L A W L S A U C E.
Next two characters will either have random names or something based off of Lawl and sauce...

Somewhat...2/3, I guess. (Was trying to think of one for warrior but Blade Infusion or Adrenal Infusion didn't sound right...)

In Factions I will TRY to go with the naming convention I (kind of) have.

Names, eh? Names, names, names...

I pretty much just made them up. All there is to it. Except El Pardak, of course. He's an homage. The massive male warrior character build bearing a strong resemblence to one "big fat blob thing" from a certain website... Although I found out months later I'd forgotten a 'c' (the correct spelling would have been El Pardack), but since that doesn't look as cool.

The rest? Aayla Darana, E/Me, Alyssa Kintara, R/E, and Daneel Coron, Me/Mo (who replaced Kalia Dena, N/Me).

For factions, I'll go a little more oriental in my naming. I'm thinking, Ai Emi for my ritualist, and Vien An for a monk.

My characters are named after minor characters in Shakespeare's plays. What continually impresses me is seeing how many of them are already claimed.

I figure it is less hackneyed than farming The Silmarillion for Tolkieny names.

As a relatively new member of a guild that has hit the max member limit I'm having a hard time to tell the people behind all those different character names.

I wish more people would use naming schemes. Or even better: I wish ANet would offer the possibility to define an "account name" on top of all character names. This account name should be displayed at least in the friends list and guild list.

Oh, my own characters all have "Tetris" in their name.
